Socratic Seminar questions
How concerned should we be about global warming (extremely, somewhat, or not at all)?
I think we should be somewhat concerned, but not serverly concerned. I don't think we should be serverly concerned because this whole global warming thing could all be just a myth. Just like when someone predicted that in thirty years there would be another ice age and that was over thirty years ago. So this whole thing could just be a lie.
I think we should be some what concerned about global warming. This is because the way I see it is that we don't have enough evidence to prove that global warming is cause by humans. So it could either be (As I say) Earth is just going through menopause and global warming is just one big hot flash, or maybe we are really causing it. And I think that it would be best to do what we can to prevent it before we actually are the cause of it (if we aren't already).
I think that we SHOULD be concrned about global warming, but not to the extent that Al Gore is proposing. True there are signs of global warming, but there are also signs of just city warming. For exmple, in 1970 a professor predictided that in just 30 years we would be facing another ice age, but now 37 years later we are suggesting that global warming is taking place. To me this is a just a little fishy and leads me to have some doubts. I also think that it would be very interesting if numerous groups of scientists went to the same place in Antartica and took data samples from the same area. I think the results of this would clarify a lot of questons and clear up many of the questions against and for global warming.
I think we should be somewhat concerned about global warming because even though we don't know if the Earth's temperature is rising in some places, we should still take action such as decreasing the amount of energy we're using and replacing it with solar power, wind power, etc.
I think we should be concerned because I believe there is enough evidence to show this is not a myth and is actually global warming. Someone, Thursday, said the CO2 levels in the air were higher in the dinosaur age than now. I looked this up and what contributed to that, was all the volcanic activity at that time. I am confused about the professor predicting the "ice age in 30 years." Who is he, what evidence did he have? And, how does this tie into global warming? To address this problem we all need to work together(both political parties). Even if we spend time cleaning the air and it turns out this wasn't global warming, who is it going to hurt?
I think global warming is happening because the weather has been drastically changing, like the amount of snowfall we've been having or the record high temperatures.
I think we should be somewhat concerned about global warming. I don't think it is as drastic as Al Gore made it seem...like a do or die situation, but I do believe something should be done. Like Erin said, who's it going to hurt if we start trying to take better care of our environment? It might be a nice thing to go ahead and try and start making the small changes now, like water usage, and pollution. Like I said before, I don't think other drastic measures should be done to prepare for global warming (YET). Evidence has proven that the Earth is changing, but I don't think it's changing enough to start making huge decisions.
globall warming is starting and we should change but that shouldnt be the only reason. it we tack a stand the other countrys may start to but the air is so poluted that it is making are world durty. we only get one world no 2nd chances we should change for the next generations
I think that we should be a little bit concerd. Global Warming is a cycle and it might have happened a million years ago. We are not the ones causing Global Warming and neither is carbon Dioxide. Carbon Dioxide is nartral and it is impossible for us to take it away but if we do our plants would die out which gives us oxygen and after the plamts die out we will be next.It is a good thing that we are checking the Earth and trying to keep it safe for everyone. It wouldn't hurt if we would clean our enviorment.
I believe that global warming is somthing we should be at least somewhat concerned about, and I believe that we should continue to spread awareness about it. I think that poloticians like Al Gore, going around the world to discuss global warming is a good thing, especially in poorer countries. Poorer countries usually don't have a great education system and probably haven't learned much about global warming, much less have had an entire lesson on it like us.
We should definatly should be atleast somewhat concerned... beacause even if global warming isn't happening as fast as some say, we are poluting the earth with our driving cars and use of electricity. The world expecally the U.S. needs to cut down on all our uses that polute like more people walking or public transportation and aslo only use electricity when needed like turn the light off when leaving a room. the world should be concerd .. some what
Now I'm with Al Gore and all but I also believe that the signs we've been seeing might be caused by natural things. One being the next ice age. After all, Earth does go through these cycles every few million years or so but I do admit that it can't be the cause of the hole in the ozone layer.
Like almost everyone is saying, I think we should be somewhat concerned about Global Warming, because not all the information is recent or accurate. Also, like Katlynn brought up in the seminar, most the carbon dixoide in the ozone, is from volcanic activity, and we had more carn dixoide in the ozone during the Prehistoric Age, than we have now. But there is also evidence Global Warming is happening, so these nothing is carved in stone yet.
just like adrienne {hope i spelt your name right} said. We should be somewhat concerned with the issue, but not entirely concerned. We should be somewhat concerned because of the fact that if global warming does actually occur, millions of lives would be at steak {hope I spelt that right too}. Now on the other hand, if global warming doesn't actucally exist, we would just be peeing our pants for no real reason. we would be worrying for no reason. also like adrienne said {sorry im stealing your ideas} a scientist said there would be an ice age that was supposed to occur in 30 years, and that was supposed to happen 30 yrs ago. So, we would be sweatin the bullet for a reason or for no reason either way. its a 50/50 gamble.
I think that we should be somewhat concerned because i think we should think about it but not to the point that were scared....but we should think about it when global warming comes up. And they also have been saying that for years.
This is the Australian giving his spin on the whole Global Warming issue. In fact I am faced with a bit of a dilemma. As a Democrat I would rather side with my party's beliefs,(which I believe are true). Unfortunately the "right" side puts up a very strong point. So I was just wondering what you dudes think about the whole idea of politics and global warming.
By the way. Did anyone see that sweet Florida victory. I mean, they were just whaling on OSU. And while Greg Oden is a beast, he can't do it all at the same time.
And one more question. Does anyone else here like fried chicken? Because I think it really is tasty. But that's just one man's opinion.
I think there is too much contradicting evedence to make a opinion. I feel like scientists are showing the extremes but I have no idea who is telling the truth. It seems sort of pointless to keep arguing about the issue without anyone taking any action to help the problem. I think if so many people are telling us its a serious problem, they should also tell us what they plan to do and what we can do to help it.
Lol Alex. I love fried chicken!!! Are Talking about Football???? In which I have no Idea what your talking about. Now if your talking about hockey I now a little bit.
To get back on toppick (I know I spelled it wrong) I still think that global warming is just the earth warming itself up!!!!! When its warm enough it'll go into an ice age!!!! Then we'll all freeze!!!!!!! Then it'll repeat itself!!!!
I am the only one who likes seaweed and shark??????

G'day,

I think that it's not global warming but the earth warming its self up then we'll go into an ice age!
